What I Did This Christmas…

Posted by gina

Okay. So.

First of all, I went up to my grandparents on my moms side. We go to their house every other year, and we go to dads parents every other year. It’s kinda back and forth.

So, I got a lot of cool thinks. The first was… MY OWN COMPUTER!!! Yes, this girl now has her own computer. I show it in one of my new     videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ygM-rJF4tpw

It’s an Asus Windows 8, epic!

What I also got, what I remember at least…

A lot of clothes, 5 notebooks (omg so cute little puppies!!!!), Reading For The Gifted Student Grade 6 (fun to me), a new backpack, lots of pretty new jewelery, make-your-own stuff kits, nail polish/manicure items, pretty much all I can remember, and that’s already a lot.

I’m back home now. Happy 8th birthday to my little cousin!

Comment what you got for Christmas!

Stuff.

Posted by gina

So, I haven’t written on Ginasnewsforkids in a very, very long time, and I have some things to catch up with…

I’m eleven now, twelve in february. It’s been about a year since I’ve written on this site. But don’t worry, I’ve been alive the whole time.

There’s been other stuff I’ve been doing. I’ve joined a social site called Animal Jam. Here’s the link to the site http://www.animaljam.com/home

If anyone who plays AJ wants to buddy me, I’m SuperWriter26

I do YouTube now; I have fifty subscribers so far. I do Animal Jam videos. A lot of people do them, but they’re still fun to do. Here’s the link to my channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJwByEuQJUXIwwAb71DnfRA

Now, the biggest announcement yet!

I’m writing a Kindlebook! And believe me, I’m a LOT better than I was when I published Platinum’s Pokemon Adventures.

So, the book’s called Dragon Spotted. It’s about these three girls, Skye, Lily and Amber. Well, one day, the world goes to war with dragons. And Amber finds a dragon egg in her room. So, all of a sudden, she’s training dragons to fight back!

Here’s the preview:

Later on that morning, Skye, Lily and I had made our way to my bedroom.

Skye tripped and fell onto my window seat.

Her hand landed a little under a pillow, and she gerked it away.

“There’s something hot under there!” she cried, nursing a burnt hand.

Lily and I looked at her, puzzled.

“Something hot?” I asked, walking over to her. I slid my hand under the pillow, then jumped back.

“You’re right!” I said.

“Why do you have something, like, that hot in your bedroom?” Skye asked.

“I didn’t put it there,” I replied.

I moved the pillow and gasped.

Sitting there, glowing with the hotness of it, was a dragon egg.

Lily, Skye and I crowded around it, staring at it in wonder.

“How’d it got there?” Lily asked.

“I dunno,” I said. “But one thing’s for certain: we must keep this secret from my parents.”

I hope you enjoyed! I’ll let everyone know when the book comes out. Hopefully by Christmas! 🙂

Don’t forget to let your imagination fly! See you guys later!

Christmas Eve!

Posted by gina

It’s freezing, there are presents under the tree, and family are gathering around the fireplace.

You all know what that means…. Christmas!!!

When it’s Christmas, Santa Claus (St. Nick, Santa, Mr. Claus) comes down your chimney, a bag of toys slung over his shoulder.

He, quietly as a mouse, puts all your toys under the tree (or in my case, on the couch).

But if you were bad that year, Santa puts coal in your stocking!

People often go somewhere with family for Christmas.

They bring gifts for one another, too.

Santa’s sleigh is lead by Rudolf, the red nose reindeer (BTW, I hope everyone’s seen the movie)!

This year, I’m up at the very top of Beech Mountain. It just started snowing this morning, but there’s enough of it for a small Snow Ball fight!

My aunt and uncle own a house up here. I come up here every other Christmas.

The mountain house may be two stories tall, but with two uncles, two aunts, three cousins, a grandma and grandpa, my mom and dad and I, it’s packed up here!

For Christmas, I want a Nintendo 3DS, Pokemon X, and some books called Warriors!

What do you want for Christmas?

Tell me in the comments below!

And check out NORAD Santa Tracker!

Oh, and I cannot forget!

Merry Christmas!

Magic Tree House is a educational book written by Mary Pope Osborne.

It is about a brother and a sister named Jack and Annie. Annie is 7 and Jack is 8. They travel in a Magic Tree House. Jack and Annie are assigned to these missions by Morgan la Fay, the sister of King Arthur of Camelot. Jack and Annie travel through time and history to help Morgan get free from a spell, solve four ancient riddles and become master librarians, save four ancient stories from being lost forever, free a mysterious little dog from a spell, save Camelot, and learn different kinds of magic.

Sometimes Jack and Annie meet famous people in history and other times they have to read about history to complete their missions.

“I LOVE IT!” I said as soon as I started the series.

The first 4 books are Dinosaurs Before Dark, The Knight at Dawn, Mummies In the Morning and Pirates Past Noon.

After the 28th book in the Magic Tree House series, it becomes the Merlin Missions. In the Merlin Missions, Merlin sends them on these quests. It is more advanced reading than the earlier books. In all, there are now 47 books in the series. Next month (July, 2012), the 48th book, A Perfect Time for Pandas, is supposed to be published.

Here is a video and a couple of pictures, enjoy!

The Legend Of Korra is based on the Nickelodeon series Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Korra, Firebending

Avatar: The Last Airbender, is a tv series about the last Airbender Aang, the Avatar. The show is about him learning to control, or ‘bend,’  the elements: fire, earth, water and air (air already knows because he is an Airbender). He uses his knowledge to defeat the Fire Nation after they attacked his home and killed all the other Airbenders. He ran away right before the attack and was frozen in ice for 100 years.

Sokka and Katara found Aang. Katara helped him to learn Waterbending. Zuko, the Fire Lord’s son, helped him to learn Firebending and Toph helped him learn Earthbending.

In The Legend Of Korra, Korra already knows the three elements fire, earth and water. Tenzin, Korra’s master of Airbending, is Aang and Katara’s youngest son. The story is more dark and serious than Avatar: The Last Airbender, but it still has some fun in it.

The trailer for The Legend Of Korra is below. It starts on Nickelodeon April 14th.

My Favorite Super Bowl Commercial

Posted by gina

During the Super Bowl, a lot of commercials are shown, and most of them are funny.

My favorite was “The Bark Side”. It was super funny!

There were a whole bunch of dogs in one place, and they were barking the Darth Vader song from Star Wars. 40 dogs auditioned, and 12 of those were used in the commercial.

At one point, this dog made a sound that sounded like Chewbacca, one of the aliens. I haven’t seen Star Wars yet, but my parents said it sounded like it. I hope to see Star Wars soon.

Star Wars is coming to theaters in 3D this Friday, February 10, 2012.

Here is a video of “The Bark Side” commercial. Hope you enjoy it and don’t hold back your laughter!

My Cat Keiko

Posted by gina

Keiko is my nine year old cat. She isn’t as much hard work as Amber is.

My cat Keiko

I think Keiko is black and white, but my Mom and Dad say she is grey and black. You choose from this picture and tell me in the comments below!

Would you like to hear something funny? When Keiko is sleeping, she snores softly – except when she sleeps in the middle of the night and keeps my Mom awake – then she’s really loud.

She may not be as much of a handful as Amber, but I still have to do stuff for her, like feed her Cat Chow and water, and clean out her litter box, sometimes. But do you know what she really likes me to do? Scratch her head and pet her. She loves that. She purrs. But I have to watch out, because sometimes she will bite or scratch me because I pet her too much.

Keiko and Amber have almost had fights with each other, Keiko swats and growls, Amber sniffs Keiko and cries, then comes back for more.

Keiko was grown up by the time I was born – but as a kitten she was definitely the cutest thing!  I know that she would play, play, play, play, then sleep, sleep, sleep, sleep. Then every once in a while, she would eat. She must have been really funny and fun to play with. I love her a lot.

Keiko as a kitten.

Here is a picture of what she looked like as a kitten. Isn’t this sweet?

TinkerBell DS Game

Posted by gina

The Nintendo DS is a handheld gaming system. One of the many games for the Nintendo DS is the TinkerBell DS game from Disney.

With this game, you get to play as TinkerBell and help prepare for the seasons, Summer, Fall, Winter, and Spring. You get to customize over 100 outfits and watch Pixie Hollow transform from day to night.

You can also talk to fairies and play mini-games. When you get to a certain point, your fairy friends will have a picture of TinkerBell’s face flashing, it might mean that the mini-game can be played. You can play the mini-game any time once that happens.

I have the TinkerBell game myself. I got it at Toys’R’Us a few days ago, but it’s also available here on Amazon.

I’ll tell you a little more about the mini-games. You get to weave thread from a silk worm with Fawn, paint lady bugs with Rosetta, and catch dew drops with Silvermist.

I love the game. It has great graphics, is interesting, and lots of fun. You get to go to all the places in Pixie Hollow as you go through seasons.

Legoland Adventure

Posted by gina

Legoland is a new theme park featuring legos.  There are rollercoasters, kid’s rides, a 2-story carousel , and a driving school where kids 6 and up can get a driver’s license.

My favorite was the Dragon, one of the rollercoasters. You can see a video of the ride below.

You should check out the Island in the Sky. It was really fun too. It’s where you go high up in the sky and go high above the trees. What a view! Here’s a picture of what you see from there.

We went as part of a group called Florida Unschoolers.

The jousting was a lot of fun. It was where you get onto this model horse like you were in the middle ages – the time of knights! You ride the horse around on a track and it feels like it’s galloping!

Here’s a little more about the driving school. It was like on a miniature city street. You have to stop at stop signs, red lights, and yield signs. You go on green. And you have to watch out for other kids and their cars. Obey the rules of the road or there well be a crash! At the end of the school, you get a paper drivers license. My Mom paid a bit more to get this plastic license!

I hope you can go to LegoLand! There’s one in Florida and another one in California. There’s also LegoLands in Germany, England, and Denmark.

Here’s a video of the Dragon roller coaster, and some more pictures below – have fun everyone!
